Here at Hill Cottage, we are aiming to live a sustainable lifestyle, one that impacts our environment as little as possible. We are far from perfect, but we are trying our best to live consciously and mindfully within our environment!
Hill Cottage is a timber framed mediaeval cottage nestled in nearly 3 acres of beautiful Suffolk countryside, including over an acre of woodland, a kitchen garden and an orchard. We grow most of our own fruit and vegetables and sustainably manage our woodland to produce firewood and kindling.
At Hill Cottage we offer a range of complementary therapy treatments and sell products and crafts that impact the environment as little as possible. We make the best use of the surroundings in which we live and we try to utilise all of the good things that nature has given us.
We provide aromatherapy, reflexology, therapeutic massage, Indian head massage and specialist therapies for people living with dementia. Our therapy studio is set in picturesque rolling countryside so you can enjoy the panoramic views whilst you receive your therapy treatment... or simply close your eyes and drift away in the peaceful tranquility of the Suffolk countryside.
At Hill Cottage you can purchase our seasoned firewood and kindling - sustainably sourced from our woodland - together with organic fruit and vegetables or perhaps something from our range of consciously created crafts.

Specialist Aromatherapy for people living with dementia
Aromatherapy is particularly beneficial for people with dementia as it can bring about a sense of relaxation and comfort, especially for those that experience symptoms of agitation or mood swings. Simone has extensive experience of working with people with dementia and has provided aromatherapy treatment to hundreds of people in dozens of care homes and private settings.

Simone has studied Dementia Care Mapping (DCM), an observational tool used to ensure that a person living with dementia has a holistic, person-centered approach to their care. DCM was devised at the University of Bradford by Professor Tom Kitwood and Dr Kathleen Bredin in response to the need to advocate for people lviving with dementia. DCM ensures that the emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing of an individual is taken into account and it is used to help identify little things that can engender happiness; these can then be built upon to ensure people have an opportunity to experience well-being more often throughout their day.
Aromatherapy treatment for people with dementia consists of applying a specialist blend of essential oils to the hands, feet or forearms of the individual, which benefits them in a number of ways. For example, the compounds in the essential oils can elicit feelings of relaxation and calm, and the time set aside to concentrate purely on the physical act of applying the essential oils is an interaction that focusses wholly on the wellbeing of the individual.
A full consultation will be undertaken to ascertain if aromatherapy is suitable for the person living with dementia. Simone will then create a bespoke blend of oils for the individual and demonstrate how to apply the oils in your chosen environment. Aromatherapy can delivered either in the home or in a care home setting.
